IUL, enrolment is open for the Professional Master Course in Sacred Art

Translation by Giulia Lombardo

Enrolment is open for the 1stlevel Professional Master Course in sacred art, born out of the collaboration between IUL online university and the Sacred art school of Florence. The course aims at training experts in the sacred art sector providing competences to conceive and realise contemporary artworks, in line with the Christian tradition.

Besides the professional master course, a continuing education programme, granting 20 ECTS is also foreseen. The course has an interdisciplinary approach focusing on sacred art, with themes and activities which make the initiative unique among Italian universities.

Enrolment for both courses is open for all bachelor’s degree holders and is addressed in particular to graduates in architecture, historical disciplines, fine arts, and performing arts. The pathway is also suggested for teachers of history of arts, religion, philosophy, responsible people of sacred arts in dioceses, tour guides and all those wishing to deepen theoretical, technical and hand-craft aspects of sacred arts.

The Sacred art school of Florence is an international reality born to foster creativity in art and craftsmanship with a focus on the world of the sacred. The school does not adhere to any artistic trend in particular and is mainly an art studio, where students produce quality works and are involved in artistic and handicraft commissions.  For this reason 78% of the students who attended and finished their studies at the school found a job in the sector within 12 months.

The course has a duration of one year for a total of 1,500 hours of didactic activities and is delivered in blended mode. It grants 60 ECTS credits and 3 points to be used in the school teachers list. After a first theoretical path in common, with online lesson, enrolees will choose a laboratory specialisation among painting, sculpture and goldsmithing to conclude their training. Those only interested in the theoretical part will accomplish the certificate of the continuing education programme granting 1 point in the school teachers list.

Enrolment is open until December 2019 and the online lessons will be held from February to June 2020. The month of July 2020 will be dedicated to the in person laboratory activities in Florence at the Sacred art school. The final exam must be taken within November 2020.
