New hired teachers 2016/17
On the 5 of December 2016, the new online training for newly hired teachers was launched. The online environment neoassunti.indire.it/2017 was designed and developed in collaboration with the Directorate-General for school staff of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). It will accompany this year 25,000 teachers from all regions which will join the permanent staff.
The training path is divided into four different phases:
- Preparatory meetings (6 hours)
- Training workshops, at least 4 (12 hours)
- Peer-to-peer periods of observation in classroom (12 hours)
- Online Training (20 hours)
For online activities, teachers will be invited to complete a profile consisting of an initial skills self-evaluation, training curriculum, documentation of two activities, final appraisal, as well as a series of questionnaires to monitor all the training phases. Teachers can use the online discussion forums to exchange materials and experiences. Each educational material, activity and content is designed to accompany the teacher in a path of continuing professional development. The online environment allows also a guided access to several study materials, a real “digital library” of proposals that each teacher can use immediately and will continue to be accessible during the teaching activity.
Textual guides to all the activities of the online environment have also been implemented and are freely available in the Toolkit Area, where guidelines are also accessible together with templates derived by region and national and international research.
The INDIRE website offers an insight on currently ongoing innovation in the Italian and European School. In particular, among the many resources available, teachers can find, in the online environment, the 15 ideas of innovation promoted by the Educational Avant-garde movement, the network of over 500 schools that are already bringing forward their own model of school renewal.
