Ricerca per l'innovazione della scuola italiana

Mentep

“MENTEP– MENtoring Technology-Enhanced Pedagogy, is a European Policy Experimentation project funded by the European Commission via the Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by European Schoolnet (EUN), a consortium composed of 31 Ministries of Education in Europe of which INDIRE is a member since 1996.

Mentep involves 16 partners in 13 European countries and is addressed to teachers of students from 12 to 15 years of age.  The aim of the project is to develop and test a useful tool for teachers to make online self-assessment of their Technology-Enhanced Teaching (TET) competence. On the basis of their self-assessment, teachers will be able to access resources and support via national portals and improve their skills.

In AY 2016-2017 MENTEP is in testing by 50 Italian schools, for a total number of about 1000 teachers involved.

The purpose of the project is to facilitate the meta-pedagogical reflection with regard to the use of technology in the classroom, promote professional updating of teachers and provide continuous data on attitudes, behaviours and needs of European teachers in the field of educational use of technologies.

The structure of the tool is similar to instruments used successfully by educational institutions in different countries and is standardised so as to allow a practical use in Europe. At the end of the experimentation, that is ongoing simultaneously in all 13 countries, the tool will be released with open source licence, and may thus be customised and adopted by all Italian and European schools.

Furthermore, measures for strengthening the competencies of educators and policy-makers in Europe are also envisaged through four Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC)available at www.europeanschoolnetacademy.eu.

INDIRE takes care of the research in Italy involving 1000 teachers in the experimentation of the tool and coordinating two specific activities: one connected to the development of a demonstrator of self-assessment, based on a selection of immersive environments, games and role plays, the other concerning the analysis of the feasibility of internationally recognised certification tools, in relation to the competencies assessed.

All the deliverables related to these activities will be available in the materials area.
