On 18 and 24 October two guided tours to discover Indire’s historical archive

On 18 and 24 October Indire adheres to “Firenze Fotografia d’Architettura 2019” a festival to enhance historical and contemporary architectural photography. The event, organised by Giovanni Michelucci Foundation offers the opportunity to find out the extraordinary heritage of photographic fonds of Florence’s historical archives thanks to guided tours, and thematic exhibitions that tell its story from 1800 to now (see the flyer).

 

The guided tours of the indire’s historical archive

Indire participates in the festival by organising on 18 and 24 October two free guided tours entitled “The school in photography. School buildings in Italy ((XIX-XX centuries)”, cured by the researcher and responsible of the Indire’s historical archive Pamela Giorgi and the archive collaborator Irene Zoppi.

On the occasion of the tour, the archive and the library of the institute will be open to the public and the photographic fond of Indire will be displayed. The fond is made up of more than 14 thousand photos ranging from different themes of didactics showing architectures and school environments of 1800 -1900. This is one of the most important photo collections on the history of school and the Italian educational systems, in fact it is unique in its kind for its vast scope ranging from the chronological point of view, from the end of the 19th century to the end of the 70’s, and geographically, as it covers the entire national territory.

The guided tours, upon online booking (maximum 20 people) will take place at Palazzo Gerini (via M. Buonarroti, 10), hisotical Indire’ s headquarters, according to the following calendar:
