Brussels, standing ovation for the Erasmus orchestra

On Tuesday 28 January, the Erasmus orchestra performed in a concert in Brussels organised within the international conference “Co-creating Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps”. The conference, organised by the European Commission on 28 and 29 January, was the first institutional meeting dedicated to the future of the Programme.

More than 600 people coming from 33 countries, some representatives of the European Commission, and Erasmus+ agency’s delegates participated to the concert that concluded the first day of works.

At the evening’s opening ceremony, the Erasmus+ agency’s coordinator, Sara Pagliai, emphasised Indire’s commitment to promote the international value of music language with this orchestra. «The Erasmus students that form the orchestra – declared –are the direct expression of the spirit of the programme that promotes an open, dynamic, and supportive community, a place where competences can come together and develop beyond any linguistic, geographical and cultural barrier».

The orchestra, conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo, performed music by Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, Bizet e Puccini. The show concluded with Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and the public’s long and enthusiastic standing ovation.
