The European eTwinning conference in live streaming on 28 October

The 2021 eTwinning European Conference returns from 28 to 30 October. The event, which will still be held in an online version, focuses on the Community theme of the year: Media literacy and Disinformation: Making the Difference with eTwinning.

During 2020, the year of the pandemic, it has become increasingly evident that the exposure of citizens to disinformation is a problem that affects both young people and adults.

In 2021, eTwinning promoted media literacy by organizing many activities, from professional development opportunities to online events, from communication campaigns to the publication of
articles on the portal.

The aim of the October meeting is to invite eTwinners to share their approaches to this fundamental principle of the digital age and to find together teaching practices useful for teaching students to take control of the digital world (and not to be controlled by it).

For the second consecutive year, the European Conference will be broadcasted in live streaming.

Below is the programme of the live broadcast, starting from Thursday 28 October at 5 pm:

  • Welcome from Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth;
  • Opening speech by Zeynep Tufekci, lecturer and opinion columnist for the “New York Times”.

The event will continue at 6.30 pm with the delivery ceremony of the European eTwinning Awards, during which the winners will be awarded by representatives of the European Commission and the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture.
