Small school communities, the European eTwinning workshop for teachers

The eTwinning European Unit organizes online the “Small Schools Communities in Rural Areas” professional training workshop, in the afternoons from 27 to 29 April (approximately from 3pm to 6pm), dedicated to small school communities in rural areas.

Since its inception, the community has promoted the enhancement of schools located in geographically disadvantaged areas or at risk of geographic isolation, and with a low student population. In these particular contexts, digitization in teaching and eTwinning design can be an extraordinary tool for innovation, that is capable of promoting inclusion, the development of transversal skills and overcoming isolation.

The online meeting, which will take place in English, will be attended by teachers from Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Jordan, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malta, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey and Hungary.

For this workshop, the INDIRE eTwinning National Unit selects five Italian teachers of primary and lower secondary schools (6-13 years old pupils) in service in mountain schools, schools of the small islands and schools of territories with low demographic density.

The selection will be based on the level of knowledge of the English language and the eTwinning experience, required in this case at an intermediate/advanced level. Previous activity will be considered in terms of participation in eTwinning projects and community activities.

During the selection phase, priority will be given to candidates who in 2019 actively participated in the NOP-INDIRE laboratory “Internationalization for innovation in small schools” and who have never participated in European eTwinning events in Italy, abroad or online.

Among the applications received by 12 noon on 6 April, based on the information provided in the form, the National Unit will select the five Italian teachers invited to participate. Only the selected teachers will be contacted. In the following weeks, additional candidates may be contacted for possible replacements.
