Adult schools competing at EpaleEduHack, the digital challenge for the environment!

The second edition of the EPALE social hackathon, aimed at adult education schools, is about to start.

The awaited start is approaching for the 2022 edition of EPALE Edu Hack entitled “Making peace with the environment. Territorial proposals for digital innovation for the green transition“. The initiative comes alive on 18 November. The first session is in remote mode with the 12 competing teams proposing a project for environmental sustainability, aimed at their local area, working in their offices and connecting in the virtual classroom with the mentors. The second session, and the final presentation of the projects to the jury, will take place in Rome on 23 and 24 November where students, teachers and a “green friend of the territory” will face the long final marathon to finalize and implement the proposals as much as possible.

The challenge, which represents the key moment of the entire initiative, was anticipated by a preparatory training carried out with the experts of the RIDAP purpose network, aimed at training teachers on ICT, and by the mentors of the EGInA training agency, organizers of the event together with EPALE Italy which also saw the participation of researchers from INDIRE and the involvement of Legambiente.

Environment and digital education is the combination proposed by EPALE Edu Hack in this edition, in line with the European indications of the Digital Education Action Plan and highlighting the centrality of climate actions set by the “European Green Deal“.

For this reason, Veronica Mobilio (European Commission) will open the online session on Friday, to underline the usefulness of the hackathon as an innovative way of planning and involving stakeholders on issues of social relevance, as it happens in the European DigiEduHack to which the EPALE event is inspired. Legambiente, on the other hand, will open the meeting in Rome with the speech by Alessio Di Addezio on “Environmental planning in educational paths” (see also the Legambiente School and Training website).

Jury and awards

The jury of experts, made up of representatives of Institutions that deal with innovation, digital and environmental education, including INDIRE, the Digital World Foundation, the General States of Innovation and Legambiente, will determine the top three winners.

Social voting. The project most “loved” by the public will be awarded a special prize. From 10.00 pm on 23 November the teams and project ideas will be published on EPALE Italy Facebook, fishing for your likes!
