Technologies and Epistemic Agency of teachers in small schools. A new article in the scientific magazine “Qwerty”

The new issue of Qwerty – Open and Interdisciplinary Journal of Technology, Culture and Education, 5. 17, N. 2 (2022), dedicated to the “new normality”, namely, digital technologies at school after the health emergency, is online.

In this volume, there is an interesting contribution from the INDIRE research group led by Giuseppina Rita Jose Mangione who is experimenting with the Classi in Rete model (learn more here) in isolated schools in our country.

The work by Cacciamani, Mangione and Pieri, entitled Activating teachers’ epistemic agency to implement knowledge building in the classroom: A case analysis of the “Classi in rete” project, analyses the use of the Knowledge Forum space to bring out and find solutions to emerging problems during the construction of knowledge, and the implementation of the Knowledge Building model in the experimental classes of Abruzzo. With reference to the categorization of Zhang et al. (2007), taken from Hakkarainen (2003), and dividing between factual and explanatory problems, the research wanted to understand if the training for the implementation of the “Network Classes” model has allowed teachers to assume the perspective of the Knowledge Building model and to assimilate it thanks to the use of specific technologies.
