eTwinning schools 2023/24, the list of awarded schools

Italian schools are once again synonymous with European excellence for innovative distance didactics, obtaining once more a leading result in the European award “eTwinning School” 2023/2024.

The two-year period certification relates to the results achieved by teachers and school students through the European eTwinning platform and aims to reward the innovation shown by the most virtuous schools in teaching areas including, digital practice, eSafety, creative and innovative approaches to pedagogy, promotion of the continuous development of the competences of teachers and students.

In total, 4,485 European schools were awarded. The outcome is the result of a selection managed by the European Commission and the European eTwinning Unit.

As for national data, there are 307 schools awarded for the two-year period 2023/2024 – after the pause due to the pandemic in 2022/2023 – 142 schools in 2021/2022; 204 schools in 2020/2021; 130 in 2019/2020; and 224 schools in 2018/2019. This year’s data confirms the primacy of our country in eTwinning distance learning.

What does it mean to be an eTwinning School?

Becoming an eTwinning School is a recognition of the school’s achievements in eTwinning, where teachers and school management are active promoters of innovative and inclusive teaching, acting as a point of reference for all other schools based on the values inherent in the mission of the eTwinning Schools.

The awarding of the eTwinning School also has the objective of giving birth to a new network of pioneering European schools in didactics innovation and in the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and skills inside and outside the school walls:

 

 

In the coming weeks, eTwinning Schools 2023-2024 will receive a “school pack” including the personalized plaque, the eTwinning flag, additional eTwinning materials and a congratulatory letter signed by Commissioner Mariya Gabriel.

The next application round will open in September 2023.
