The actions of this line of research aim to develop proposals, both in terms of models and methodologies, specific to small schools, with particular reference to those in geographically isolated areas, such as, for example, the smaller Mediterranean islands or  mountain areas.

The survey activity is aimed at designing and experimenting solutions able to enhance the quality of these educational realities, disseminated throughout the national territory.

The reflection process, started in 2014, saw the identification of 4 small school networks located in isolated areas that constituted the initial observation sample. Starting from this first phase, the research hypothesis was oriented to carry out experimentation of active and laboratory teaching methodologies to support the management of pluri-classes.
