In recent decades, the need has increasingly grown within the scientific community to develop programmes to enhance archival heritage (Italian Legislative Decree of 22 Jan. 2004 no. 42, the Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape), including school heritage (the primary instrument to recover a school’s historical memory), whilst, at the same time, expanding its methods of use.

Specific emphasis is placed both on a clear archival matrix and on areas almost exclusively oriented towards exploring the many aspects of use, knowledge-related needs, and history-based analysis of the schooling experience.
