National Music Festival “Music unites schools”

Music unites schools” is an important National Music Festival addressed to Italian schools of all types and levels that was introduced many years ago by the Ministry of Educationnational committee for the practical learning of music for all students.

The event – which is traditionally held every year in Spring in a school of the territory upon rotation – was held online for the first time in 2020 on the Indire platform.

On that occasion, the Italian schools were given the opportunity to share and show the music activities carried out during the school year and teachers had the chance to reflect on innovative didactic practices on learning music at school.

During the event which has always welcomed students’ performances, there are also many seminars, webinars and immersive workshops with the participation of experts, teachers, head teachers, university teachers and teachers of national and international conservatories. The virtual edition enabled a vast enlargement of participants and the collection of a significant number of musical contributions freely shared by the schools, the students and their families.

The format proposed during the first year of the online event has been really appreciated: despite of the difficulties due to the pandemic, the response of schools and students has been extraordinary, with thousands of music contributions sent online.
