SugarCAD, the 3D design system for schools
SugarCAD is a free, 3D modelling software package that can be used through a Web browser and has been designed for schools. Its user-friendly features allow teachers, students and makers to shape their ideas. It was conceived as part of INDIRE research projects, which envisaged the use of 3D printers in schools for educational purposes. The software is mainly aimed at students from nursery to secondary school, and allows users to use more or less complex tools depending on their level of experience. The software was designed and developed to meet the needs of Italian schools. By making the most of field activities and the needs analysis expressed by teachers, the software is constantly evolving to provide users with a tool that is always up to date and useful for educational purposes.
Objectives
To deliver a technological solution that can be subsequently used in school facilities.
