INDIRE Celebrates 100 Years of History: a Special Event in Rome on December 15

Music, words, and visions to narrate a century of educational innovation in Italy and Europe

On Monday, December 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM, the Sala Petrassi of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome will host the official event marking the 100th anniversary of INDIRE, the National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research.
The evening — titled “A Century of INDIRE through Music, Words and Visions” — aims to celebrate the past, present, and future of the Institute and of Italian education, offering a collective moment of storytelling, reflection, and inspiration. It will be an opportunity to highlight how educational innovation represents both a shared responsibility and a fundamental investment in the cultural, social, and economic development of the country, with a focus on internationalization and Europe.
Actors Laura Chiatti and Luca Ward will guide the audience through the event, accompanying them on a narrative journey through the milestones, transformations, and visions that have shaped the Institute’s work over the past hundred years. They will be joined by the Erasmus Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo, with the participation of the Choir of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the “C. Casini” Choir of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
The event will blend theatrical storytelling with musical performances by the Orchestra. Admission is free until capacity is reached, with access upon registration at the link:

The Erasmus Orchestra Concert

In the second part of the evening, the celebration will include a special moment dedicated to the music of the Erasmus Orchestra, a project created by the Erasmus+ INDIRE National Agency that brings together Erasmus students from conservatories and AFAM institutions across more than 80 European conservatories. The Orchestra was established to promote young talent and to represent, through music, the European values of cooperation, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
The concert will be conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo, with the participation of the Choir of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the “C. Casini” Choir of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The musical program will guide the audience through different eras, styles, and atmospheres, featuring works by Mozart, Bach, Rossini, Händel, as well as modern compositions and traditional pieces from the Christmas repertoire.
Among the vocal protagonists of the evening will be soprano Sara Semilia and mezzo-soprano Anna Konovalova, supported by an orchestral ensemble enriched by tutors, choristers, and arrangers.

INDIRE

Founded in 1925, INDIRE is one of the oldest research bodies of the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit. For a century, it has accompanied the evolution of Italian schools, supporting innovation, digitalization, new teaching methods, and European projects. Its work in research, experimentation, and documentation has helped transform teaching and learning over time, making the Institute a national and international reference point for education professionals.
The Centenary celebration is intended not only as a tribute to the Institute’s history, but also as a moment of shared reflection for all those who believe in the value of education as a driver of development.
An evening of music and words to look back, understand the present, and imagine together where tomorrow begins.
