Digital literacy with eTwinning, applications for the training seminar are open

Since its inception, eTwinning has been involved in promoting digital literacy by encouraging teachers and students to make an informed use of digital tools. The community is a safe and collaborative international environment in which pupils and teachers can develop their skills and exercise their critical spirit, learning to distinguish between real information and disinformation.

Digital literacy and disinformation are the 2021 theme of the community, and it is in this context that the European Unit is organizing from 26 to 28 May the online professional training seminar “Critical Digital Literacy with eTwinning”, dedicated to the importance of critical digital literacy through eTwinning.

The event, which will host subject experts, will offer participants the opportunity to meet colleagues from many countries, and will allow enrichment in terms of ideas for future eTwinning projects and ideas for aware and innovative digital teaching.

The Italian unit will select 5 Italian teachers of any discipline and school level, who must be eTwinners, already experienced in the use of the platform. The seminar requires a commitment for three consecutive afternoons from 26 to 28 May, from 3 to 6.30 pm and an excellent knowledge of English, the working language of the event.

Candidates must also be members of at least one of the 2 eTwinning groups: “eTwinning at Home” and “Media Literacy & Disinformation” enrolled in eTwinning before January 1, 2020, with an intermediate/advanced level experience of using the platform. In fact, previous activity will be considered in terms of participation in eTwinning projects, quality awards, participation in the community and training opportunities.

Priority will be given to candidates who have not participated in European eTwinning events in Italy, abroad or online, before, and the motivation indicated in the participation form will be taken into consideration.

From the applications received, based on the information provided in the form, the National Unit will select the 5 Italian teachers who will be invited to participate. Only the selected teachers will be contacted, but further candidates may be contacted for possible replacements in the following weeks.
