Postcards from the archive
A weekly appointment, on the Indire website, where the Historical Archive makes two images available to teachers of all school levels, accompanied by food for thought and suggestions for teaching activities to be used in this phase of distance learning.
The project aims at strengthening human bonds with ideal postcards sent over the web to the schools, so that these could in turn forward them to their students. In this moment of “forced distance” Indire, also with its historical-documentary heritage, renews its function for the world of the school: and it does so by ideally opening up its archive to distribute images that, starting from the past, allow us to reflect about today.
We know that what we propose is a further suggestion, among the many that schools receive in these days of emergency, in line with the Ministry’s Circular “First operational indications for distance learning” (17/03/2020), but we hope it will be a welcome support. There have always been many Indire’s projects aimed at enhancing its historical documentary and photographic archive, as well as its precious library collections, also showing its relevance as an educational and cultural tool.
Here are therefore some postcards, in each issue the images chosen will refer to two words/themes serving as food for thought, and will be accompanied by suggestions for activities that each teacher can integrate and modify according to their needs, as a further aid to didactics in a transdisciplinary and vertical perspective. Enjoy the activity!
